My internship at GeorgiaLink jumpstarted my interest in politics and positively changed the entire trajectory of my career. Through the experience I gained a deep understanding of the inner workings of state government and formed relationships that I have continued to build over the past decade as a state lobbyist. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone.

I interned at GeorgiaLink right after completing my undergraduate degree and before law school. Trip, Skin, Boyd, and Cherry always treated me like a member of the team -- it was an incredible experience.  I witnessed firsthand the value of legislative engagement and strategic thinking.  My experience as an intern set the stage for my interest in business and state/local government. More importantly, I formed relationships with mentors and professionals that will last a lifetime. It is hard to think of a better intern experience to carry forward in a professional career.

I am forever thankful that GeorgiaLink Public Affairs Group provided me with my first internship as a young college student. This opportunity solidified my interest in pursuing a career in politics and the professional development skills I learned are the foundation of my career. In a profession where "who you know" can be just as valuable as "what you know," I am grateful that the impeccable reputation of GeorgiaLink is echoed not just in the Gold Dome, but also the U.S. Capitol.

Current Employer: Georgia Municipal Association

Position: Government Relations Associate

I started at GeorgiaLink in late 2019 as a new college graduate with no experience working in the state house or in lobbying, and in the seven months I worked as an intern, the exposure the firm offered me into state politics was unrivaled. From organizing meetings with leadership, to covering committee meetings and briefing the team, from day one, they pushed me to work independently and take ownership in my role. I will always say, working at GeorgiaLink was the cornerstone I've built my career off thus far and an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in working in the Georgia political landscape.

In 1995, Trip Martin took a chance on me when he invited me to be GeorgiaLink’s first intern.  Skin was still in the Senate and Boyd was just starting to dive into lobbying full time.  That internship launched my near 30-year career in Georgia politics.  Looking back, I met some lifelong friends that Session including then-State Senator Sonny Perdue (at a hockey game with Trip), and then-Aide to Senator David Ralston Spiro Amburn who I have spent most – if not every - Sine Die with since my internship.  I am proud to see the list of interns that I have had the pleasure to work with at GeorgiaLink thrive and do amazing things over the years.  Importantly, during my internship and the years since, I will always take away from Trip, Boyd and Skin that honesty, integrity, hard work and pure grit are character qualities we should all strive for as professionals.

I didn't understand fully how state legislation gets reviewed and passed nor the dynamics of public affairs in Georgia until I had this experience with GeorgiaLink despite being a political science nerd! All of the partners were always there to answer my questions and involved the interns in events and meetings you don't usually find interns take a part in, so their support was definitely the highlight of the experience!

GeorgiaLink was my first internship experience and introduced me to the world of policy.
