Current Employer: Office of the Lt. Governor of Georgia
Position: Director of External Affairs
It’s not a stretch for me to say that I owe my entire career to GeorgiaLink. The team took me under their wings and gave me a solid foundation by sharing with me the vast institutional knowledge they’ve acquired over the years. GeorgiaLink didn’t just teach me how to be a professional, they taught me how to go about it the right way.
Current Employer: Georgia Power Company
Position: Legislative Affairs Manager
My internship at GeorgiaLink jumpstarted my interest in politics and positively changed the entire trajectory of my career. Through the experience I gained a deep understanding of the inner workings of state government and formed relationships that I have continued to build over the past decade as a state lobbyist. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone.
Current Employer: Washington, D.C. office of Senator David Perdue
Position: Legislative Assistant
In this role, I make recommendations and conduct research for the Senator in the areas of healthcare, education, and veterans policy. I credit my internship with GeorgiaLink during the Spring 2016 Legislative Session with giving me the tools, introductions, and experience necessary to work in a position on Capitol Hill. As Skin Edge said on our intern class' first day - this internship "will show you how a bill really becomes a law".
Current Employer: Briskin, Cross & Sanford, LLC.
Position: Associate
Interning at Georgia Link was a career-defining internship that served as a launching pad for my professional career. From my first day at the office, the Georgia Link team treated me, a then nineteen-year-old, like a valued team member. Thanks to my experiences with Georgia Link, I am comfortable walking into any room, regardless of what politician, judge, or executive is present, and effectively advocating on behalf of my clients.
Current Employer: Capgemini Government Solutions on the National Security and Defense team
Position: Senior Consultant
I didn't understand fully how state legislation gets reviewed and passed nor the dynamics of public affairs in Georgia until I had this experience with GeorgiaLink despite being a political science nerd! All of the partners were always there to answer my questions and involved the interns in events and meetings you don't usually find interns take a part in, so their support was definitely the highlight of the experience!
